Sept 30 - Clarence DeMar Marathon
Joel Richards ran the Clarence DeMar Marathon up in New Hampshire
as a tuneup run for the Califonia International Marathon in December.
He was going to run only 22 miles but decided to finish it anyway and
came in 19th place overall. Way to go, Joel!

Oct 7 - Chicago Marathon
Jeff Horan and Dotty Kelly ran the Chicago Marathon for the second straight
year. Jeff clocked a PR at 3:29:26, while Dotty negative-split the race coming
in at 3:50:46 to qualify for Boston. The race featured the new woman's world
record of 2:18:47 by Kenya's Catherine Ndereba.

Oct 21 - Baystate Marathon
New member Mike Volfson led the way with a 3:39:38 PR.
Tom Carney came in at 3:48:17 while Hans Thamhain finished 1st in
his age group with his 4:05:07. Ken Barrett crashed and limped in with a PW.

Oct 28 - Marine Corps Marathon
Lev Volfson and Joe Koziol ran yet another Marine Corp Marathon, finishing in
3:55:16 and 4:40:04, while Dave Achenbach finished with a 4:30:19.

Oct 28 - Mystic Places Marathon
Joel Richards ventured down to Connecticut this time and topped his
NH time with a 3:05.

Oct 28 - Cape Cod Marathon
New member Joe Panepinto led the way with a 3:56:14. Greg Lindvay and
Joe Curley came in consecutively at 4:54. Diane Curley
followed in at 5:25:53.

Nov 4 - New York Marathon
In the 2001 "United We Ran" NY Marathon, Ann Marie Rakovic was our lone
representative, ran a PR at 4:28:58. Both the men's and woman's course records
fell this day.

Nov 10 - Richmond Marathon
Rosanna Villani ran a PR and qualified for Boston with five minutes to spare
with a 3:45 effort. Wendy Cashen ran a PR with a sub-4 showing of 3:57.
Winona Wall ran a fine 4:05 despite injuries and sickness. Walter Garland ran
yet another marathon this year in his quest to run a marathon in all fifty states.
